A few new fruiting perennials
new and featured this week:
Natives & Perennials: Sweet Joe Pye Weed, Button Bush, River Oats, Purple Love Grass, Yellow Prairie Coneflower, False Aster
Garden Vegetables: Edgar's Multiplier Onions (in 5" pots in the front greenhouse)
These are near and dear to us. Our good friend Edgar Patterson of Cool Springs Farm saved these for years and this plant keeps him in our memory after his passing.
These are in the general category of multiplier or potato onions known for producing multiple bulbs from one original set each season. Plant 1 and get up to 8 back! These are one member of the allium family that should be planted now. They produce abundant greens for cutting from September through May of the following year. You can cut them every other week or as needed throughout the winter months and they regrow like a champ. Bulbs form in May. Harvest in mid-late June and use as any other onion. Expect them to be golf ball-sized at maturity. Mature bulbs have a naturally short storage period once harvested in late June and should be planted in August or September. Be sure to save some for replanting and keep the tradition growing!
transplant Crop Estimated arrival dates:
Check in with us on Wednesday of each week for new arrivals. We expect a load or two a week through October to get your fall and overwintered gardens all planted.
Leafy greens like lettuce, spinach will arrive in September when things cool off a bit.
We are planning to bring in a late round of cucumbers, summer squash and zucchini for a late planting. If you get these in the ground by September, you'll have some for the fall holidays!

Find them in the front Greenhouse... Elderberries, Figs, Blackberries and Olives are still in stock.
Our next large shipments of fruiting perennials are expected in October or November of 2025. Stay tuned to the Garden Center Availability List to see what's available!
